ARUNDEL, Maine — A Waterboro man was arrested Friday night in connection with the alleged assault of woman at an Arundel residence on Thursday, according to York County Sheriff William King.
Christopher Hall, 48, is accused of shocking the woman with a cattle prod while disguised in a wig. Hall has been charged with felony assault and attempted kidnapping. He is being held at York County Jail on $15,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, King said.
The series of events that led to Hall’s arrest occurred early Thursday evening, when sheriff’s deputies were called to a convenience store in Lyman to investigate a report that a woman had been assaulted.
The woman, an attorney who serves as a professional mediator and is often contracted by the Maine State Court System, went to a residence on Irving Road in Arundel for a scheduled meeting with a potential female client.
As the woman prepared to exit her vehicle, a man wearing a wig as a disguise assaulted her, King said.
The woman reported that she believed she was “shocked” by the man, who placed a cattle prod between her legs, coming in contact with her upper, inner thighs.
The man then placed his hands over her mouth to stifle her screams, and she fought the man, knocking off his wig. The man retreated into a waiting vehicle and fled.
The victim was brought to a nearby hospital, where she was treated and released.
Sheriff’s deputies scoured the area and secured all available evidence. The woman recalled she sometimes has clients who become adversarial when court decisions do not go their way.
Deputies learned she worked a court case that involved Hall, who reportedly came before the courts several years ago in a child custody dispute and was not happy with the disposition.
At that time, Hall threatened several people involved with the case.
King said deputies recover the cattle prod, wig and other evidence related to the incident.
