BREWER, Maine — Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems announced Friday the pending sale of Dirigo Pines Retirement Community in Orono to a midwest corporation.

CPF Senior Living Acquisitions LLC of Chicago will partner with Grace Management Inc. of Minneapolis for ongoing management services, according to a news release issued by EMHS.

Dirigo Pines is owned by two EMHS member organizations, Rosscare and Affiliated Healthcare Systems.

Transfer of ownership is expected to occur by early December. Dirigo Pines does not expect any changes to its workforce as a result of the transaction, according to the announcement.

Lisa Harvey-McPherson, EMHS vice president of continuum of care, said that EMHS has for the last several years been seeking a partner or buyer for Dirigo Pines that reflects its own commitment to quality and excellence in senior living community services.

“The CPF-Grace Management combination is highly respected in the senior living sector and meets our standards in every respect,” she said. “Both organizations exhibit the expertise and values that are needed to best serve Dirigo Pines today and in future years.”

Dirigo Pines Executive Director JoAnn Gallant said, “This is an exciting time for Dirigo Pines. Although our community has been served well under EMHS’ leadership, this change brings many beneficial opportunities.”

According to the news release, John Rijos, chairman and chief executive officer of CPF Senior Living Acquisitions, is a national leader in senior living community management with expertise in his former role as co-president and chief operating officer of Brookdale Senior Living from 2000 to 2013 — a nationally known company specializing in senior living.

Grace Management is a national leader in development, management and marketing of senior living communities. It has partnered with CPF on numerous projects, according to the release.
