NORTH WATERBORO, Maine — A local man has been charged with burglary in connection with allegedly breaking into a neighbor’s residence, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff William King said the alleged victim installed a security system in his home after noticing money had been missing on at least two occasions over the summer, despite no evidence of forced entry.
Late last week, the homeowner was reviewing security footage that identified the suspect, Troy Blackburn, 19, entering the residence by using a card to bypass a side door lock, King said.
The alleged victim discovered a GPS and $500 in cash had been removed, and he called the sheriff’s office Tuesday.
Blackburn was interviewed and confessed and was summoned for burglary but not arrested, King said. Blackburn told police a neighborhood dispute during the summer prompted his actions. The GPS was recovered and returned to the victim.
Blackburn will face his burglary charge in court on Dec. 2.
