BANGOR, Maine — Thousands of power customers across Maine woke up in the dark Thursday because of heavy wind and rain overnight, and crews spent most of the day helping customers regain electrical service.
According to Emera Maine, about 477 of its customers were without service as of 3 p.m. Thursday, according to the company’s website. The bulk of those outages were in Hancock County, according to Emera Maine.
At one point early Thursday morning, more than 8,000 Emera Maine customers were without power.
Central Maine Power reported more than 430 of its customers were in the dark as of 3:00 p.m. Thursday. More than 12,000 of the company’s customers were in the dark early Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service has posted high wind warnings for Penobscot, Hancock and Washington counties, while potential for coastal flooding also is possible.
