HERMON, Maine — Residents no longer need to leave town to get their prescriptions filled.
Community Pharmacies, a chain of 12 drugstores owned by pharmacists who live in Maine, opened its latest location Monday inside of Danforth’s Down Home Supermarket on Route 2.
Community Pharmacy of Hermon is open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
Brett Danforth, the supermarket’s owner and general manager, said that a pharmacy was always part of the plan for the Hermon store, according to an article published in the November issue of Hermon Connections, the town’s newsletter.
Amelia Arnold, retail pharmacy operations manager for Community Pharmacies, had this to say:
“We think Hermon is ready for a pharmacy because it is experiencing amazing growth,” she said. “We are excited to be expanding here with this location and think Hermon is a community that will embrace a small-town pharmacy providing personalized customer service.”
Carmel resident Mike Williams is the pharmacist. A graduate of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, Williams has 18 years of experience, the most recent as pharmacy manager at Osco Pharmacy at Shaw’s Supermarket on Main Street in Bangor.
