WELLS – Wells police arrested five men after they reportedly robbed a home on Littlefield Road Sunday night wearing masks and armed with handguns and a knife.

Police said they believe the incident was an isolated and targeted event and that there is no further danger to the public.

A press release issued Monday by the Wells Police Department said officers were called to Littlefield Road at approximately 11:17 p.m. Sunday for a report of a robbery. The victim reported four to five masked men armed with handguns and a knife entered the residence and took approximately $2,300 in cash. Police obtained a description of the vehicle and partial Massachusetts license plate, stopping a vehicle matching the description at mile marker 11 on the Maine Turnpike.

Officers from the Maine State Police, Ogunquit Police Department, York Police Department and the Kittery Police Department assisted Wells officers with the traffic stop and apprehension of the five suspects.

Police arrested Anthony Arrendell, 28, of 102 Swan St., Methuen, Massachusetts; Marcos Hernandez, 30, of 102 Swan St., Methuen, Massachusetts; Juan Andino-Tirado, 24, of 33 Webster St., Haverhill, Massachusetts; Carlos Diaz, 21, of 48 Duckett Ave., Lawrence, Massachusetts; and Javier Pagan-Gonzalez, 24, of 3053 C St., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. All men are charged with a Class A Felony count of robbery, which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years. Police say the men may face further charges by a grand jury.

Bail was set for all five men at $10,000 each. They were unable to make bail and were each transported to the York County Jail. Following an arraignment Monday, bail was increased to $75,000 for each of the men. They are currently being held at the York County Jail.

Police said an investigation is ongoing.
