FREEPORT, Maine — The Freeport flag ladies were out Tuesday morning with a special message: to show their support for France.

They stood at the corner of Main and Schools streets in Freeport starting at 8 a.m., holding signs painted with the French flag as the background in remembrance of the tragedies of 9/11 and the recent attack on France this past Friday.

Another sign held read “We Stand With France.”

Every Tuesday, Carmen, Elaine and Joanne wave American flags to show patriotism. They started doing it after the Sept. 11 attacks and have continued since.

They also come out for military men and women as they go overseas or return home.
