BATH, Maine — The Department of Defense has awarded Bath Iron Works a $85.7 million contract modification for work on DDG 51-class destroyers and FFG 7-class frigates.
The modification funds the fifth year of a five-year contract originally awarded in 2012, according to shipyard spokesman Matt Wickenheiser.
Bath Iron Works manages post-delivery maintenance and modernization work for all DDG 51 (Arleigh Burke-class) guided missile destroyers and FFG 7 (Oliver Hazard Perry-class) guided missile frigates.
The work will be performed in the Bath shipyard and is expected to be completed by December 2016, according to a release from the Department of Defense.
