BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police arrested a man early Thursday morning after he allegedly threatened a cab driver with a handgun.
Officers were dispatched to the One Stop convenience store on State Street around 2:30 a.m. after a cab driver reported he had been “threatened by a male individual brandishing a handgun,” according to Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton.
Police arrived to find Arthur J. Beaver, 32, in the parking lot.
“The suspect repeatedly refused to follow simple and clear commands and he was eventually physically subdued while attempting to walk away from the scene,” Cotton said.
After subduing Beaver, police searched him and found a .40-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun. Police say Beaver threatened to kill the officers during the arrest.
Beaver faces charges of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, terrorizing and refusal to submit to arrest.
In July of 2014, Beaver, who was intoxicated, was arrested after breaking into a Finson Road home. The homeowner found Beaver, who tried to exit through a window. The homeowner grabbed Beaver’s legs and held on until police arrived.
