EDDINGTON, Maine — An early-morning vehicle fire on Route 178 briefly disrupted the morning commute, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
Lindsay Carey, 35, of Bangor was traveling east around 8 a.m. Friday when she noticed her engine compartment was on fire, Deputy Jim Ellis said.
Carey was not injured, and the fire was contained to the engine compartment of the vehicle, Ellis said. Eddington firefighters extinguished the fire quickly. The road was closed for about 20 minutes.
Carey’s 1999 Chrysler was a total loss.
