BRUNSWICK, Maine — A Woolwich man was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland Wednesday night after he was ejected from the sport utility vehicle he was driving on Route 1.

Witnesses reported that Alexander Lund, 28, was operating erratically as he drove the 2005 Chevrolet SUV east on Route 1 just before 8 p.m., Brunswick police Cmdr. Marc Hagan said.

After reportedly driving off the right side of the road twice, Lund overcorrected, drove off the left side, and the SUV rolled several times, ejecting him, according to Hagan.

Brunswick rescue workers took Lund to Maine Medical Center with “incapacitating injuries,” Hagan said. Lund’s condition was not immediately available Thursday morning.

Brunswick police reconstructed the crash, which remains under investigation.

“Alcohol is being investigated as a factor,” Hagan said.
