BANGOR, Maine — A local man was arrested Thursday for allegedly selling crack cocaine out of his Court Street apartment.
David Costa, 36, was the fourth person arrested in the past 18 months for selling drugs from 98 Court St., according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
He was expected to make his first court appearance Friday afternoon at the Penobscot Judicial Center.
The multiunit apartment building is located across the street from a day care center and adjacent to Coe Park, a designated “safe zone.” Because of the building’s location, Costa was charged with Class A trafficking in scheduled drugs.
Investigators found approximately 10 grams of crack cocaine, nearly $10,000 in suspected cash drug proceeds and other evidence of drug trafficking, Cmdr. Peter Arno said Friday in a news release.
In May 2014, agents arrested James Anderson, 49, of Bangor after an investigation involving the sale of crack cocaine from the same building, the release said. Investigators arrested Colin Chapman, 38, of Bangor in October in a separate investigation involving the sale of crack cocaine from 98 Court St.
There is an outstanding arrest warrant for another individual that charges felony trafficking in crack cocaine stemming from a July investigation, Arno said. This person, whose name was not released, also resided at 98 Court St.
The building is owned by Quark Realty Trust, according to city records.
If convicted, Costa faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
