This past year has been about coming together. Given their diminishing numbers and the costs of building maintenance, this year St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Augusta, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Hallowell, and St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Augusta all joined under Prince of Peace Lutheran Church’s roof at 209 Eastern Ave. in Augusta to worship.
They call themselves Church at 209.
This is their first Christmas together, and they’re all represented in the choir. At the 7 p.m. Christmas Eve service, the choir sang a number of tunes, including this one above — “Oh, Holy Night” — directed by Melinda Kimball, playing guitar on the far right. Paul Rhoda (my father) and Jessica Gorton are soloists, along with Lloyd Balderston on guitar. Listen, and enjoy.
