YORK, Maine — A New Hampshire man faces several charges after leading York police on a high-speed chase and then a brief foot chase Saturday.

Christopher Archambault, 49, of Farmington, New Hampshire, has been charged with attempting to elude police, receiving stolen property and reckless conduct.

Police said Archambeault had been driving a car that was reported stolen in Rochester, New Hampshire. When police tried to stop him, Archambeault feld.

He was later spotted on Cider Hill Road, and police gave chase on Route 1, with speeds reaching 85 miles per hour.

Police said during the chase Archambeault weaved through traffic and passed a vehicle on the right on the York River Bridge. The chase continued on Beech Ridge Road and then on Claude Mcintire Road, a narrow and dead end dirt road where Archambeault stopped and fled on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit, police caught Archambeault.

Archambeault is being held in the York County Jail on $6,000 bail.
