AUGUSTA, Maine — A Winthrop woman was taken to the hospital after being injured in a two-vehicle crash shortly before noon Sunday at the intersection of Western Avenue and Armory Street, an Augusta police sergeant said.

Faith Talbot, 39, was traveling through the intersection when her 2009 Toyota sedan was struck by a 2012 GMC pickup driven by 77-year-old Gerald Day of Augusta, said Sgt. Christopher Shaw. He said that a witness to the crash indicated that Day turned in front of Talbot’s car against a red light.

Talbot’s injuries were not considered life threatening, Shaw said. Day was not injured, but his wife, Carlene Day, 71, who was a passenger in the truck, later went to the hospital to be checked out for pain caused by her seatbelt.

Traffic was temporarily diverted because of the collision.
