BANGOR, Maine — Huisken Meat Co. is recalling nearly 90,000 pounds of beef products that may be contaminated with extraneous wood materials, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced on Monday.

The products being recalled are the Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, company’s 2-pound boxes of Sam’s Choice Black Angus Beef Patties with 19% Vidalia Onion, the inspection service said in a news release. The boxes at issue contain six patties, with use-by dates of May 17, May 29 and June 6, 2016.

The items were produced between Nov. 19 and Dec. 9, 2015, and bear the establishment number “EST. 394A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

The foreign material originated with an incoming ingredient and was discovered during production, the inspection service said. While there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a health care provider.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Consumers with questions about the recall can call Debbie Green, the company’s customer service manager, at 618-857-4011.
