BANGOR, Maine — A Penobscot County sheriff’s deputy involved in a crash Tuesday afternoon on Route 2 is doing well, according to Sheriff Troy Morton.
Frank Jennings, who patrols Hermon, suffered bumps and bruises because of the crash and was treated and released from Eastern Maine Medical Center, Morton said Wednesday.
Jennings had just dropped off several reports at the sheriff’s office on Hammond Street and was returning to his patrol area at the time of the crash, the sheriff said.
According to Morton, Jennings was driving west in a patrol sport utility vehicle when the other vehicle, which was traveling east, went into the westbound lane and hit Jennings.
Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton said Wednesday morning there was no update on the conditions of the women in the vehicle. He also did not disclose their names.
Morton said a pickup truck traveling in front of Jennings’ patrol vehicle veered out of the way just before the crash.
Traffic in the area was diverted via Target Industrial Circle on Tuesday afternoon while crews were clearing the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
