WINDHAM, Maine — Two people were arrested on Monday in connection with the state’s first alleged methamphetamine lab of 2016, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Wednesday.
Charles McNeice, 46, and Nicole Adams, 33, both of Gray, are being held at the Cumberland County Jail on a charge of unlawful operation of a meth lab, McCausland said.
There were a record 56 reported meth labs in 2015.
On Monday, Windham police were called to the area of Tower Road for a reported suspicious vehicle, and items generally used to manufacture meth were located, McCausland said.
Drug agents subsequently responded and items including ammonium nitrate and pseudoephedrine tablets were found, McCausland said.
Investigators believe McNeice and Adams purchased the items shortly before their arrests and McNeice was preparing to manufacture meth.
McNeice is no stranger to police, as he was charged last year in an Oxford meth lab and had been out on bail from that charge.
