LINCOLN – Geraldine Ruth McCormick, 89, died peacefully on Feb. 22, 2016, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born Jan. 14, 1927, at home in Springfield, the daughter of Harry and Ruth (McKenney) Webster.
Geraldine graduated valedictorian from Eastern Maine Institute in Springfield, Class of 1944. She loved her family and spent much of her life as a homemaker, wife, and mother. Geraldine valued education and worked for many years as a substitute teacher in the Lincoln school system. She also worked as Activities Director at Colonial Acres Nursing Home where she began and developed many activities such as the Adopt-A-Grandparent program, Resident Council, as well as a choir and bowling league. She was a member of the Lincoln Congregational Church and was very active in the Pilgrim Daughters. An excellent cook, beautiful seamstress, and avid reader, Geraldine also loved to sing, dance, and tell stories. She will be sadly missed by the friends and family whose lives she touched and who will fondly remember visits filled with double jive lessons, hilarious tales of growing up on the farm, and delicious cookies and pies.
