ENFIELD, Maine — A local couple was arrested Wednesday night on drug trafficking charges after the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a raid at their home, MDEA Cmdr. Scott Pelletier said Thursday in a news release.

Scott Lord, 51, and his wife, Ann Lord, 46, have been charged with Class B felony trafficking in oxycodone, Pelletier said.

According to Pelletier, MDEA agents from the North Central District Task Force have been investigating for the last several months the alleged illegal distribution of the prescription painkiller oxycodone by the couple.

About 10 p.m. Wednesday, state drug agents, along with deputies from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police troopers, executed a search warrant at 25 Pierce Road.

That search led to the seizure of more than 80 oxycodone pills, $9,000 in suspected drug proceeds and other evidence of drug dealing, Pelletier said. He pegged the estimated street value of the pills at $3,600.

Also confiscated were eight state of Maine EBT cards, none of which belonged to anyone living at the residence, Pelletier said.

“Agents suspect the Lords accepted EBT cards as payment for oxycodone they sold,” he said. “It is common for those who sell illegal drugs to receive EBT cards as payment, withdrawing amounts of money owed to them for drugs sold to the cards recipients.”

After their arrests, the Lords were taken to Penobscot County Jail, where each was being held on $5,000 cash bail. The two are scheduled to make initial court appearances on Friday at the Penobscot Judicial Center.

The investigation is continuing, and additional charges and arrests are expected.

If the Lords are convicted, they face up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $20,000 apiece.
