CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine — The widow of a man who was hit by a car and knocked into a recycling hopper at the Cape Elizabeth Transfer Site in November 2014 has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.
Katherine Dennison is suing the driver, Christine Sharp-Lopez, and the town of Cape Elizabeth, according to court documents.
Police declined to press charges against the driver last year.
Officials said Herbert Dennison was killed after a car backed into him, knocking him into a recycling hopper.
Katherine Dennison claims she suffered physically and financially because of her husband’s death.
The lawsuit claims the town is responsible for her husband’s death, because the town implemented a plan where vehicles back into the garage hopper disposal area.
Katherine Dennison plans to sue Cape Elizabeth and driver for $500,000.
