BANGOR, Maine — The National Weather Service on Sunday issued a revised forecast for a storm that is expected to hit parts of Maine beginning late Sunday night, bringing with it up to a foot of snow Down East.
Late Sunday morning, the weather service upgraded its forecast for Washington and Hancock counties from a winter storm watch to a winter storm warning.
The warning is in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Between 7 inches and a foot of snow are possible for that area, which includes Amherst, Dedham, Perry, Princeton, Ellsworth and Bar Harbor.
Meanwhile, a winter storm watch is in effect for southern Penobscot County from late Sunday night through Monday evening, forecasters said.
That area, which includes Bangor, Brewer, Old Town and Orono, could seen accumulations of 4 to 8 inches of snow.
