BANGOR, Maine — Maine State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death early Sunday morning of a 33-year-old woman from Wiscasset.

The investigation into the death of Kimberly Hill, who had been riding in a pickup truck driven by her boyfriend, 29-year-old Tyler Poland of Greene, is expected to last several days, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Monday in a news release.

State police detectives plan to consult with the state medical examiner’s office and the state police crime lab and examine Poland’s 2016 Chevrolet Denali pickup, he said.

McCausland said Sunday night that Poland called 911 shortly after 2 a.m. to report the incident. After Hill allegedly jumped from the truck, Poland said he placed her in the back of the pickup and was driving south to meet up with first responders, he said. Hill was dead when first responders met up with Poland’s truck in The Forks.

On Monday, McCausland said that Hill was placed in the cab of the truck, not the rear outside bed of the pickup truck.

McCausland said no additional information would be released on Monday.
