PORTLAND, Maine — A convoy of Maine state troopers were heading to Massachusetts on Tuesday morning for the funeral services of a Bay State trooper killed in the line of duty last week.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said the Maine contingent includes 35 troopers heading to Hudson, Massachusetts, for the services of Trooper Thomas Clardy.
Clardy was killed when his patrol car was struck along the Massachusetts Turnpike, according to reports.
Lt. Col. John Cote, deputy chief of the Maine State Police, headed up the Maine contingent. Most of the attending troopers were off Tuesday.
