PORTLAND, Maine — The Robinhood Marine Center in Georgetown was sold for $4 million earlier this month to a partnership that includes the head of yacht builder Derecktor Shipyards, Paul Derecktor.
Mainebiz reported that the sale closed March 7. It puts the property that also includes the Osprey Restaurant, Spartan Marine Hardware and Riggs Cove Rentals in the hands of John Koenig and Derecktor, which bought it from long-time owner Andy Vavolotis.
It’s not Koenig and Derecktor’s first business partnership, Mainebiz reported. At the time of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the pair ran a ferry service between Sandy Hook, New Jersey, and lower Manhattan. Their business helped with the city’s emergency evacuation.
The Derecktor Maine partnership plans to continue to operate the marina and repair facilities, with three bays that Vavolotis had used for boatbuilding projects.
Mainebiz reported the company hired Neil Collins, a former employee at Maine Yacht Center in Portland, to manage the boatyard and marina.
