SIDNEY, Maine — A man and a woman from Sidney were both indicted this week on multiple charges in connection with their 1-year-old daughter ingesting heroin last summer, officials said.
Jason Thomas, 34, and Katie Robinson, 23, are both facing charges of unlawful possession of heroin and endangering the welfare of a child, Kennebec County District Attorney Maeghan Maloney said Tuesday.
The heroin charge is a Class C felony and the endangering the welfare of a child count is a Class D misdemeanor, Maloney said. The child recovered from the incident.
Thomas’ bail conditions prohibit him from having any contact with the baby, but in spite of Maloney arguing for similar bail conditions for Robinson, Robinson is allowed to have contact with the child.
If convicted, Thomas and Robinson face up to five years in prison on the heroin charge and a year in jail on the endangering the welfare of a child count.
