With this week’s news that Portland voters had overwhelmingly approved a bond to replace the aging Hall Elementary School, we decided to dig up some old images showing what classrooms and schools looked like back in the day.
The folks at MaineMemory.net let us use these early 20th century photos of Maine schools. Most are of the “new” Portland High School, which opened in 1919.
