PORTLAND, Maine — Residents in Texas are recovering from historic rainfall and severe flooding, and several Mainers are traveling to Houston to help.
Two Red Cross volunteers left for Texas on Wednesday morning.
The volunteers said Texas is experiencing disaster after disaster this year, and they feel compelled to go help out.
On Monday, nearly 2 feet of rain caused flooding around the state, leaving many Texans without a home.
The volunteers will be on the ground providing shelter, meals and comfort for those people who lost everything.
The Red Cross has 13 shelters around Texas open right now. They’re hoping to provide even more resources.
