PORTLAND, Maine — A local man who previously admitted to robbing a Key Bank branch in Freeport last summer pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court to four additional bank robberies, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.

By pleading guilty, Jimmy Odong, 26, of Portland admitted to robbing: University Credit Union on May 14, 2015; TruChoice Federal Credit Union on May 26, 2015; and CPort Credit Union and Bank of America, both on June 19, 2015.

On Jan. 20, Odong pleaded guilty to the July 17, 2015, robbery in Freeport, according to a previously published report.

In the robberies, Odong was captured on bank security cameras wearing a hat or wig that partially disguised his appearance, according to a news release issued by the federal prosecutor’s office. Odong demanded cash from tellers and brandished what appeared to be a gray or black semiautomatic handgun.

He was arrested July 23, when police found him with about $1,180 in cash and the stolen cellphone.

Odong faces up to 20 years in jail and a $250,000 fine for each robbery. His plea agreement calls for him to be sentenced between 12 years and three months and 14 years in federal prison for all five robberies.

Information about how much money Odong obtained in the Portland robberies was not available Wednesday afternoon. He took $11,700 from the Freeport bank, according to a previously published report.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 12 in federal court in Portland.

Odong faces deportation after completing his sentence, according to a previously published report. A permanent resident of the United States, he came to the U.S. when he was 9 from what is now the nation of South Sudan.
