SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Sports Authority is closing all of its stores across the country. The company filed for bankruptcy in March.
In March, Sports Authority said they planned to close 140 stores, including an Auburn location, but the Maine Mall location in South Portland would remain open.
Forbes reported Sports Authority has decided to sell all of its 450 locations in the next few months, as the company faces more than $1 billion in debt and the company could not reach a deal with creditors to sell off some stores and reorganize.
Most of the company’s assets are due to go up for sale May 16, according to Forbes.
