PORTLAND, Maine — The Thomaston-based publisher of E.B. White’s “One Man’s Meat,” Tillbury House Publishers, has reached a deal to sell and distribute its titles through the New York City publishing house W.W. Norton & Co.

Tillbury co-publishers Jonathan Eaton and Tristram Coburn said in a news release the deal will broaden their reach.

“We are delighted by our new relationship with Norton, which will allow us to broaden our readership for many of our best-known classic titles while also developing a vibrant new trade audience as our list evolves and becomes more national in scope,” they wrote in a prepared statement.

The 40-year-old publisher has a collection of books in the genres of children’s literature, nonfiction, literary fiction, New England titles and books on maritime topics.

The agreement took effect May 1, according to Norton. The employee-owned Norton said that Tillbury’s “independent spirit and emphasis on editorial excellence fit well with the Norton sensibility” and fit with its Norton and Countryman titles.

“It will be a distinct pleasure to introduce Tilbury House titles to a rapidly expanding market,” said Michael Levatino, Norton’s vice president and sales manager for affiliate publishers.
