LINCOLN, Maine — A local man already out on bail on a manufacturing methamphetamine charge was arrested again after a Lincoln police officer pulled over the man’s car on West Broadway on Thursday, police said.

Jared Lovett, 29, of Lincoln was charged by Maine Drug Enforcement Agency agents with manufacturing methamphetamine, a Class B felony, and by Lincoln police with violation of conditions of release, police said.

A woman traveling with Lovett, Ashley Norris, 30, of Lincoln, was issued a civil fine for possession of a usable amount of marijuana, police said.

MDEA agents came to the Lincoln Public Safety Building and identified the chemicals in Lovett’s impounded Saturn sedan after Officer John Walsh pulled it over on West Broadway at about 8:15 a.m., said Dan Summers, Lincoln’s public safety director.

Walsh recognized Lovett and his vehicle on West Broadway and knew that Lovett had been charged in Skowhegan with manufacturing methamphetamine earlier in the week. As a condition of Lovett’s release, police were given the right to stop and search him, Summers said.

Walsh said he saw three Gatorade bottles, hoses, camp fuel and containers of sulfuric acid, all materials consistent with the production of methamphetamine, Walsh said.

Police towed the vehicle to the station and awaited the arrival of the agents, who donned chemical safety suits and verified the chemicals after searching the vehicle on Thursday afternoon.

Lovett is due at the Penobscot Judicial Center in Bangor on July 14, police said. He is being held without bail on the violation of conditions of release charge. The bail information on the methamphetamine manufacturing charge was not yet available.
