ST. ALBANS, Maine — The body of a missing 4-year-old boy was found in a man-made pond, authorities reported early Sunday evening.
Few details are being released, but the child was reported missing in the Ballard Road area near a body of water around 4:20 p.m., according to Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster.
Lancaster said that initial reports indicated that the boy last was seen around 2 p.m., while his family members were working on a garage. The boy’s parents thought he was with an aunt and did not realize that he was not with her until she returned to their home about 4 p.m.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by tracking dog teams from the Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service, Lancaster said.
