HERMON, Maine — John Curtis Jr. of Hermon battled from the sixth position to capture the Dysart’s Late Models race Saturday night at Speedway 95.
The top division at Speedway 95 kicked off the 2016 season in style with the Hopkins Landscaping and Paving Series Race 1. Pole sitter Dana Wilbur of Frankfort and Wayne Parritt of Steuben led the field of 11 high-powered machines to the start of 50 green-flag laps.
Curtis picked up where he left off in 2015 as he drove his Ford Fusion like it was week seven.
“This is the best car I have ever had, it’s even better than last year’s 150, I owe this one to my crew. They are the best in the business,” Curtis said in a news release.
Parritt finished second in the race and was followed by Wilbur, Kris Matchett of Skowhegan and Deane Smart of Bradley.
The results for the other races were: Casella Recycling Street Stock: 1. Bobby Seger, Winterport; 2. Jeff Alley, Machias; 3. Dean Clements, Brooks; 4. Asa Jones, Sullivan; 5. Greg Pung, Franklin; Casella Waste Systems Sport Fours: 1. Scott McLeod, Kenduskeag; 2. Marcus Dunn, Newburgh; 3. Gary Richards, Exeter; 4. Andrew Crosby, Hermon; 5. Jason Lancaster, Bangor; Caged Road Runners: 1. Josh Dillon, Howland; 2. Brandon Brasslett, Frankfort; 3. Jr. Ogden, Holden.
