BATH, Maine — The Belfast High School Lions captured all three relay events and received multiple wins from Kylie Nelson and Cassidy Hill to win claim the KVAC girls track and field title Saturday at McMann Field.

The Lions finished with 96 points to edge Lincoln Academy of Newcastle’s 90. Lawrence of Fairfield (74), Waterville (71) and Camden Hills (58) rounded out the top five in the 16-team meet.

In the boys meet, Leavitt of Turner won its first title in 20 years with 109 points and was followed by Waterville (102), Belfast (76) , Lawrence (66) and Winslow (53) of the 16 scoring teams.

Hill and Nelson teamed up with Faith Beaulieu and Kelsey Mehuren on Belfast’s winning 4 by 100 relay team with a time of 52.20 seconds.

Nelson, Beaulieu and Mehuren also helped Belfast’s 4 by 400 relay competitors capture a first place in 4:17.54 along with and Emily Jolliffe.

Mehuren and Jolliffe showed off their versatility by running in the 4 by 800 winning relay with teammates Zoe Deans and Hannah Sanderson with a 10:23.30 clocking.

Belfast picked up some valuable points from Hill and Nelson with Hill placing first in the 100 (12.58) and triple jump (34-9.75) and a second in the 200 (26.29). Nelson recorded victories in the long jump (16-5.25) and pole vault (9-0).

Jolliffe went on to finish third in the 800 (2:31.04).

Other individual winners included: Nokomis’ Erin Martin (100 hurdles, 15.62), Spruce Mountain’s Emily White (1,600 race walk, 8:38.06), Camden Hills’ Augusta Stockman (1,600, 5:26.61), Lincoln Academy’s Tahlia Mullen (400, 58.80), Camden Hills’ Melissa Kessel (300 hurdles, 48.87), Waterville’s Cecilia Morin (12:11.59), Mount View’s Betsy Hunt (high jump, 5-0), Lawrence’s Alexis Chamberlain (discus, 97-11) and Maranacook’s Nicole D’Angelo (35-6.50).

In the boys meet, the Leavitt Hornets used depth in several events to pile up valuable points en route to winning the title.

The Hornets’ Noah Hutchinson and Nathaniel Goulette finished first and third in the high jump at heights of 5-10 and 5-8, respectively, while teammates Billy Bedard and Caleb Bowen placed first and second in the long jump in 20-7 and 19-1.50.

Bowen went on to win the triple jump in 41-2.75 and Goulette captured the 200 (23.84).

Bowen and Bedard also picked up points in the 100 where Bowen finished second (11.79) and Bedard took fourth (11.89) while DeAndre James and Eric Aboyoun took fourth and sixth in the 400 in 53.63 and 54.37.

Leavitt’s Ryan Pratt recorded a fifth place in the 1,600 race walk (9:29.76), Jarod Farrar placed fifth in the 1,600 run (5:01.18), Joey Baumann finished third in the 300 hurdles (44.59) and the 4 by 400 relay team of Noah Lind, Cole Gagne, Ian Godfrey and James claimed second (3:47.26).

Belfast’s Drew Nealey picked up three wins in the 110 hurdles (15.59), 300 hurdles (42.07) and (110 hurdles, 15.59) and pole vault (14-7).

Double winners included Lawrence’s Mason Cooper in the 100 (11.66) and 400 (52.66), Morse’s Christopher Walfield in 800 (2:03.3) and 3,200 (10:35.83) and Gardiner’s Robert Sullivan in the 100 wheelchair (33.23) and shot put wheelchair (11-9.75).

Also recording wins were: Spruce Mountain’s Trevor Judd (1,600 race walk, 7:00.26), Waterville’s Nick Dall (1,600 run, 4:42.86), Zach Smith (javelin, 159-3) and Trever Gray (discus, 165-2) and Maine Central Institute’s Curtis McLeod (shot put, 50-3.5).

The relay winners were Lincoln Academy (Ian Stapp, Taylor Holmes, David Barnum and Riley Cushing in the 4 by 800 (8:58.95), Lawrence (Zachary Campbell, Walker Thomas, Dylan Bailey and Cooper) in the 4 by 100 (46.74) and Winslow (Nathan St. Amand, Ryan Fredette, Jacob Witham and Maximilian Garcia Theill) in the 4 by 400 (3:42.39).
