LISBON, Maine — A 28-year-old Portland man died Monday from injuries he suffered when his motorcycle collided with an unidentified vehicle Saturday night on Lisbon Street.
Jeffrey Sickel died Monday at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Lisbon Police Chief David Brooks said Monday afternoon.
Police continue to search for a dark-colored SUV that witnesses said pulled from Memorial Street onto Route 196, also known as Lisbon Street, directly into the path of Sickel’s eastbound motorcycle about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Brooks said.
Lisbon police also are searching for a second vehicle, a pickup truck, seen on security video taken by a nearby credit union, Brooks said.
Brooks described the pickup as “light-colored, possibly white or silver-colored” with “damage to the passenger-side lower quarter.”
The security video will be processed to enhance the quality, Brooks said.
Brooks said police are not yet sure which vehicle may have been involved in the crash, but said that after it pulled into the path of the motorcycle, Sickel “obviously attempted to avoid it, and in doing so put his bike on its side and crashed into the side of the truck.”
Sickel was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from his motorcycle, according to the chief.
Maine State Police troopers and local police reconstructed the crash.
Brooks said his department will confer this week with the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office to discuss potential charges to be filed against the driver, but he said authorities’ primary concern is finding the vehicle involved in the crash.
