ROCKLAND, Maine — A Rockland man was arrested Sunday night, accused of breaking a woman’s finger during an argument.
Abernathy B. Miller, 48, was charged with domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal threatening and obstructing the report of a crime or injury.
The woman told police Sunday that she had ordered Miller to leave her apartment in the downtown Thorndike building because he had been drinking for the past couple days and had been getting “ugly” toward her, according to an affidavit filed by Rockland police.
When he allegedly refused, she went into her bedroom with her telephone to call police. Miller allegedly went in after her and grabbed the phone from her. The two struggled and he took her down to the floor and held her, according to the affidavit. She screamed for him to leave, and he allegedly threatened to kill her. He grabbed her hand and bent her pinkie finger, breaking the tip, according to the affidavit.
Miller left the apartment, and Rockland police found him outside the Brunswick Rooms.
The woman, who had other bruises on her, according to police, was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport for treatment of her injuries.
Miller was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland. He made his initial appearance Monday afternoon in Knox County Unified Court where bail was set at $5,000 cash.
