PORTSMOUTH, New Hampshire — A man from Saco, who was reported missing earlier this week, was arrested by Portsmouth police Thursday night after walking into a residence while holding a hatchet.
Gabriel Nodarse, 19, of Saco was charged with criminal trespassing after reportedly walking into a home on Peverly Hill Road. While holding the hatchet, the disoriented man allegedly asked about employment. According to police, he did not threaten the homeowner and voluntarily surrendered the hatchet during his arrest.
Police confirmed Nodarse did not break into any other area homes.
Nodarse was reported missing early last week after he had been seen leaving the Geneva Point Center in Moultonborough, New Hampshire. He was reported to be found and OK earlier in the day Thursday, in the hours before his arrest.
Because Nodarse was holding a weapon, was “possibly impaired” at the time of arrest and had no reliable address, he was held on cash bail, according to police records.
Nodarse was arraigned Friday morning at Portsmouth Circuit Court, where a judge kept his bail at $250 cash. He could not post it, and was brought to Rockingham County House of Corrections.
Nodarse’s criminal trespassing trial is scheduled for Aug. 2 at Portsmouth Circuit Court.
