BATH, Maine — Wellness Connection of Maine, which operates four medical marijuana dispensaries throughout the state, will relocate its Thomaston dispensary to the former Gediman’s Appliance building on Centre Street late this summer.
The company hopes to hire more employees in the larger space at 61 Centre St. that until September 2014 housed the appliance vendor. The new facility also will provide more privacy and a centralized location, according to a release.
The Thomaston dispensary opened in 2011 and serves more than 1,000 clients in the midcoast area. Most will be transferred to Bath, although some may use the Gardiner location if it is more convenient for them.
According to a release, the company will explore providing a delivery service if clients are unable to travel to their dispensary.
Wellness Connection of Maine operates four dispensaries and one cultivation facility. Since opening five years ago, the dispensary’s member base has quadrupled, according to a release.
The company has created more than 80 permanent jobs in five Maine counties.
