PORTLAND, Maine — The Maine Technology Institute awarded loans totaling more than $1.2 million to three companies and about $60,000 in grants to others.

The state-supported economic development agency said it awarded development loans of $250,000 to Scarborough-based fishery technology firm Maine Shellfish Technologies to develop a new technology for the shellfish industry, $500,000 to South Paris-based health care reporting company Mingle Analytics to pursue new growth areas and expand employment and $499,975 to the Brunswick-based amphibious aircraft developer MVP.AERO to help it design a full-scale prototype.

Each loan was matched with an equal or greater investment from the company or other sources.

In its latest round, MTI awarded TechStart grants of $5,000 to four companies, including Automation Integrators in Auburn, the Colby College chemistry department in Waterville, R.M. Beaumont Corp in Topsham and Spring Point Solutions in Portland. It gave a $3,825 TechStart grant to Parent Technology Group in Portland.

It also awarded a $37,183 business-accelerator grant to Forager1 in Portland, a new startup focused on local food systems started by CashStar co-founder and past CEO David Stone.
