PORTLAND, Maine — Josh Zeid pitched a season-high eight scoreless innings to help give the Binghamton Mets a 4-0 Eastern League baseball victory over the Portland Sea Dogs on Thursday night at Hadlock Field.

Zeid (W, 3-3) allowed just four hits while striking out seven and walking two. David Roseboom closed out the game with a perfect ninth. It marked the first time the Sea Dogs were shut out at home this season.

It took three batters for Binghamton to plate what would turn out to be the game-winning run. After a leadoff single and stolen base by Champ Stuart, Phillip Evans advanced him to third on a groundout, then Amed Rosario grounded out to score Stuart and put the Mets ahead 1-0.

The Mets added their second run on an RBI double by Jayce Boyd in the second inning. Matt Oberste homered in the fourth to make it 3-0 and singled in the fifth to put Binghamton ahead 4-0.

Sea Dogs starter Jacob Dahlstrand (L, 1-1) allowed four runs on eight hits in five innings while walking two and striking out one. Taylor Grover and Ben Taylor combined to work the last four innings and allowed just one hit each, with Grover striking out two and Taylor fanning four.
