PORTLAND, Maine — Passengers in the Portland area will have another option to get a lift to their destination starting at noon on Friday.
Lyft, the on-demand transportation service that competes with Uber, will be available in Portland, South Portland, Westbrook, Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough, Gorham and up to Freeport.
“Since its inception, Lyft has been committed to treating people better, and as a result, our drivers and passengers are incredibly welcoming and friendly. That’s why we’re thrilled to be launching in Portland, with a focus on people and community that echoes the values of the city. Our founding group of Portland drivers includes several entrepreneurs, a graphic designer, an accountant, a print maker and a social worker who are all excited to hit the road,” Tori Thompson of Lyft said in a press release.
To celebrate the launch, Lyft says new passengers will be able to use the code “LYFTINPWM” to receive $5 off their first Lyft ride within the Portland area. Passengers will be able to download the app at noon.
