SKOWHEGAN, Maine — Tourney host Skowhegan picked up two wins in the second day of the Cal Ripken New England Regional baseball tourney for age 11-under teams Sunday.

Skowhegan beat Stratham, New Hampshire 13-5 and Pepperell, Mass. 9-7 in the second day of pool play.

The other Maine team competing, Andy Valley, suffered a 6-2 loss to Oxford, Conn., and a 5-3 defeat to Marlboro, Mass.

Quincey McCray sparked Skowhegan in its win over Stratham with a triple and two singles. Kyle LePage chipped in with four singles and Adam Savage added two. Payson Washburn was the winning pitcher.

Nick Dean and Elliot Dresser each singled for Stratham.

In Skowhegan’s second game, first baseman Collin LePage made a game-saving catch in the sixth inning to secure the victory.

Simon Lewis led the Skowhegan offense with a home run, double and single. Patrick McKenney and Hunter McEwen each added two singles in support of winning pitcher Simon Lewis.

Colby Gouldrup hit a home run and single for Pepperell while Rocco Lamonica added a homer and Brian Morse doubled.

Ryan Brimecombe notched the win for Oxford over Andy Valley. Connor Clifford hit a homer in the win while Julian Papst added two singles. Colin Czuchra doubled.

Orion Tripp and Eli Soehren each singled twice for Andy Valley and Grayson Foster added a single.

In Andy Valley’s second game, Marlboro’s Adam Cronin notched the win and Jason Knowlenberg picked up a save.

Cam Ginnetti sparked the offense with a double and single while Braden Deckers and Cronin each added a double.

On Saturday, Chelmsford, Mass. beat Andy Valley 15-9 and Freetown/Lakeville, Mass. defeated host Skowhegan 15-1 in four innings in the first day of pool play.

Scott Brown notched the win on the mound for Chelmsford while Jack Blaine sparked the offense with a home run and two singles. Carter Colucci and Ben Morgan each chipped in with two singles.

Mitchell Bean, Eli Soehren and Colby Dillingham each hit a double for Andy Valley, which has players from Norway, South Paris, West Paris, Oxford, Bethel, Woodstock, and Poland.

For Freetown/Lakeville, Maddox Rosyski and Jackson Gagnier each hit a home run and a single to back up winning pitcher Cole Taylor. Curt Heath added a triple and single.

Ben Morgan doubled for Skowhegan.

In other games, Pepperell, Mass. defeated Stratham, N.H. 13-0 in four innings; Marlboro, Mass. edged Oxford, Conn. 8-7 in eight innings; Freetown/Lakeville beat Stratham, N.H. 13-0 in four innings and Chelmsford tipped Oxford 7-6.
