CORINNA, Maine — Students at Corinna Elementary School are being kept inside and no one is being allowed in the building at the request of Maine State Police, a school official confirmed Monday afternoon.
The request to institute a “soft lockdown” was made around noon, according to school superintendent Mike Hammer.
“State police called us and asked us to stay inside,” Hammer said. Classes are continuing, he said.
A state police dispatcher said the lockdown request was made to the school as part of “a health and safety check.” She declined to comment further.
