PORTLAND, Maine — The words “Dump LePage” were painted by vandals on an I-295 overpass in Portland.
Maine DOT says they will have crews cleaning the graffiti up within the next few days.
The words are painted on some concrete under the Deering Avenue overpass, clearly visible to drivers along I-295 in both directions
Maine DOT says one of their workers spotted the graffiti Monday morning while heading out to some other work in the area.
They say it was immediately put on a schedule to have it removed.
Maine DOT says they’re unsure when the graffiti was painted.
It comes as Gov. Paul LePage has come under criticism for recent comments, with some legislators calling for his resignation.
Despite the high-profile message the vandals had with this graffiti, Maine DOT says they’re treating this like any other piece of vandalism.
Maine DOT says it should only take a few hours to remove.
The Portland police did not immediately respond to an inquiry about whether they are investigating the incident.
