SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — South Portland police are conducting an investigation after a pickup truck crashed into the side of Macy’s at the Maine Mall.
Police said the crash happened around 9:35 a.m. Monday.
A 77-year-old from Kennebunkport was driving a 2005 GMC pickup truck, according to police. The driver and a 14-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening.
The driver told police he stopped to let a couple of pedestrians cross in front of him, and the next thing he knew he hit a fire hydrant and then the wall of Macy’s.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
