ROCKLAND, Maine — Four candidates are running for two three-year seats on the five-member Rockland City Council.

Stephen Carroll, a self-employed appliance repairman for Carroll’s Appliance; former Rockland Harbor Master Ed Glaser; former Mayor Brian Harden; and incumbent Councilor Larry Pritchett turned in their papers by Monday’s deadline and qualified for the Nov. 8 ballot.

Incumbent Mayor Louise MacLellan-Ruf is not seeking re-election.

Activist and independent journalist Judith Lawson took out papers but announced Monday that she will not run.

On the school board side of the race, three candidates made the ballot for three seats. Incumbent Regional School Unit 13 Board Chair Steve Roberts and architect Gerald Weinand are uncontested for a pair of three-year seats, and Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tom Peaco is uncontested for a two-year term.

Three people filed to run for the sole five-year seat on the Rockland Port District to replace Glaser, who is not seeking another term. Making the ballot are Noah Barnes, David Leon and Matthew Ondra.

Absentee ballots are expected to be available as early as Oct. 11.
