MEDFORD, Maine — The Maine Warden Service announced Monday that it has suspended search efforts for a 71-year-old local woman who went missing from her home last week.

Diana L. Estey of Medford has not been seen since Monday, Oct. 31. However, investigators believe she most likely has been missing from her Medford Center Road residence since sometime on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Lt. Kevin Adam of the Maine Warden Service said Saturday night that Estey is not believed to have any memory-related problems and that she is known to take frequent walks.

At this point, no clues have been found that can be attributed to Estey, the warden service said in a statement.

Around 40 people took part in the search Monday for any evidence left behind by Estey. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 100 pounds and has gray hair and green eyes. She might be wearing a gray polar fleece top with pink trim. Anyone who has any information about Estey or has seen her since Oct. 31 should call the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office at 564-3304 or Bangor Public Safety Dispatch at 973-3700.

Several search team organizations within the Maine Association of Search and Rescue were involved in the effort to find Estey, including Wilderness SAR, Lincoln County, Waldo County, Franklin County, Mercer CERT, Unity College, Civil Air Patrol, Dirigo SAR, Maine Search and Rescue Dogs and the Maine Mounted SAR horse team. Game wardens were also assisted by a Maine Forest Service helicopter and several local people.

The warden service urges hunters, camp owners and home owners in the Medford area to check outbuildings and other structures that could provide forms of shelter. The warden service and the Estey family wish to thank all those who came forward to help in the search effort. The family has been overwhelmed at the tremendous outpouring of support from both local people and those from far away.
