BANGOR, Maine — A Stetson man was sentenced Tuesday to 70 months in prison for conspiring to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and oxycodone.

The sentencing was handed down during a hearing in U.S. District Court before Judge Jon Levy.

John Williams, 40, also was ordered to undergo three years of supervised release upon completion of his prison term, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

Williams pleaded guilty of the charges on Jan. 25.

According to court records, Williams and nine other people conspired to distribute oxycodone and cocaine in the Dexter area from about 2012 to November 2014.

The drugs were acquired in Rhode Island by other conspirators and were distributed by Williams and his wife, Cynthia Williams, from their Stetson residence.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, with assistance from the Dexter Police Department and the Penobscot and Piscataquis County sheriff’s offices.
