Wardens are searching for a pontoon boat allegedly involved in a hit-and-run on the water.
The crash caused another boat to flip and sink.
Goodwin Mills fire officials say one pontoon boat slammed into another pontoon boat, sending at least four people into the water before fleeing.
Game wardens told WGME they are still looking for that boat and the investigation is ongoing.
Fire officials said it happened in shallow water near the shore, and those who were thrown from the boat into the water were wearing life jackets.
Wadleigh Pond does not have a public access point, meaning those on the pond primarily own property around the pond, or know someone who does.
Goodwin Mills Fire Chief Roger Hooper said a couple was out on their deck when the crash happened, and watched it unfold in front of them before calling 911.
On Monday evening, fire officials said they believe the sunken pontoon boat may be in the water. It’s up to the owner of the boat to remove it, and they’ve marked it for other boaters to be aware of.
